Meet the family for March 3, 2012


Chauncey H. Cotton
died 143 years ago today in 1869 at age 78. Chauncey is the boys' 5th great-granduncle.  His brother is the boys' 5th great-grandfather Ira Cotton. He served in the Revolution as a first lieutenant in the Seventh regiment of Artillery.  Ira and Chauncey Cotton, sons of Thomas, and natives of Middletown, Conn., settled in Friendship in Jan., 1816.

Elijah Banks
died 194 years ago today in 1816 at age 53 in Fairfield, CT. Elijah Banks is the boys' 5th great-grandmother's husband's 1st cousin once removed. Elijah's father is Gershom Banks. Gershom's second wife, Hannah Bradley is the boys' 1st cousin 9 times removed. Hannah's father is John Bradley the boys' 8th great-granduncle.  John's parents are the boys' 9th great-grandparents, Sarah Jackson and Francis Bradley.  John's older brother, Gershom Bradley is the boys' 8th great-grandfather.  This Gershom married Sarah Sherwood and begot Sarah Bradley who married David Barlow and begot Anna Barlow in 1763.  Anna married Talcott Gold and they begot Sally Gold who married Ira Cotton, the brother of the above mentioned Chauncey Cotton, and begot Samuel Cheney Cotton who married Almira Walker and begot Hubbard Cotton.  Hubbard married Mary Hazelitt and begot Samuel Hazelitt Cotton who married Lotti B. Ray and begot Marie Antoinette Cotton in 1891.  Marie married Walter William Wooden and the rest is family history.

Sarah Gold
is 313 years old today, born in 1699. Sarah is the boys' 8th great-grandaunt.  Her 1/2 brother is Samuel Gold whose mother is Nathan Gold's first wife Hannah Talcott.  Samuel Gold married Esther Bradley and begot Abel Gold in 1727.  Abel married Ellen Burr in 1754 and they begot Talcott Gold in 1759.  Talcott married Anna Barlow and begot Sally Gold in 1782.  Sally as mentioned above married Ira Cotton who seems to be the pivot point of today's discussion. 


Margret Ann Means
died 122 years ago today in 1890 at age 67.  Margret is the second wife of the boys' 4th great-grandfather, Isaac Austin Stanford.  Isaac's first wife Catherine Kneff is the mother of 12 children and David Stanford, the boys' 3rd great-grandfather.  David married Nancy Ann Kenley and begot Margaret Jennie Stanford in 1865.  Jennie married Joseph R. Wooden in 1884 and begot two boys, Walter William Wooden and Leroy Oliver Wooden.


Mary Magdelaine Brock
died 168 years ago today in 1844 at age 64. Mary married Abraham Le Fevre in 1795 in Virginia.  They begot 6 children, the forth being, Mary Magdelaine Le Fevre in 1806.  This Mary married James Johnson in 1824 and begot 10 children, the 5th one being Amanda Johnson in 1833.  Amanda married Andrew J. Wooden in 1858 and begot 6 children, the first being Joseph R. Wooden who married Margaret Jennie Stanford in 1884. Jennie and Joseph R. Wooden  begot the two boys, Walter William Wooden and Leroy Oliver Wooden.


Thomas Nuton Sims
died 116 years ago today in 1896 at age 35. Thomas is Steve's 3rd great-grandfather.  He was born in West Virgina and died in Roscoe, Missouri.  Thomas married Matilda Ann Boudinier on March 15, 1878 in Appleton City, MO.  They begot 7 children, William Franklin Sims, Margret Izora Sims, Mary Viola Sims, Rosa Lourain Sims, Rebecca Elizebeth Sims, Thomas Ernest Sims and James Julious Sims. The 2nd one being Margret Izora Sims, Steve's 2nd great-grandmother. Margret married Elmer Elsworth Everhart in 1902 and begot 10 more children.  The second one was Lola Ray Everhart, Steve's great-grandmother.


John Thomas Brown
is 136 years old today and was born on this day in 1876.  He is the kids' 1st cousin 4 times removed.  His father is 3rd great-granduncle William M. Brown, the brother of Oscar Routh Brown, the kids' 3rd great-grandfather.

William J. Ashley and Dony McMurrey's
105th anniversary is today, married in 1907 when she was 19 years old.  Dony is the kids' 3rd great-grandaunt the sister of Ida Jane McMurrey, the kids' 3rd great-grandmother.  Dony was the 5th born to the William M. McMurrey and Lucy Ann Kelley family of 11 children.
