WOODEN-FAMILY TREE

WOODEN
Walter William Wooden
is 47 years old today, born in 1964.  Walt is Steve's uncle, Bryan and Andrew's 1st cousin once removed and my youngest brother. He was named after our grandfather, Walter William Wooden, Sr. That technically makes him the III.  He was born in Atlanta, GA and is a Auburn graduate in visual design. Walt is a strong church supporter and an Elder in his church.  He does wonderful work with young members and not to mention that Walt is an incredibly talented designer and has his own graphic design firm where he does a high concentration of Christian design (books, Bibles, etc) as well as layout and design for magazines and websites.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY WALT, HAVE A GREAT ONE!  WE ALL LOVE YOU.

NAUGHER-FAMILY LINE

SAVAGE/NAUGHER
Henry C. Savage
died 130 years ago today in 1881. Henry is Tara and Calum's 2nd great-granduncle, the brother of Sallie E. Savage of the Frances and Frances family.

COTTON/WOODEN-FAMILY LINE

WALKER/COTTON/WOODEN/BRIDGFORTH-DAY

Sarah Walker died 318 years ago today in 1693 at age 31 in Barnstable, Massachusetts.  Sarah is the boys' 9th great-grandaunt as well as their 3rd cousin 11 times removed.  She is the sister of Jabez Walker who married Elizabeth Fuller in 1699 and begot Jeremiah Walker, the boys' 8th great-grandfather, in 1702.

STOWE/COTTON/WOODEN/BRIDGFORTH-DAY
Thankful Stowe
is 365 years old today, born in 1646.  Usually when someone is named Thankful, it is because the have died at birth.  This one lived until she was 65 years old, all in Middletown Connecticut.  She is the boys' 9th great-grandaunt and the sister of Mary Marie Stowe who married the Rev. John Cotton in 1666.  Their children had a Deliverance Cotton and a Thankful Cotton, twins who died around birth.  Keep in mind these families lived in the middle of the sixteen hundreds and were probably Puritans or had strong Puritan influences.  Mary and Thankful's parents, Thomas Stowe and Mary Griggs named their first born son John Stowe, but he died at birth so the next born was a boy so they named him John also.  John Stowe is Thomas' father, so I guess they needed to name the first living son after him.

COTTON/WOODEN/BRIDGFORTH-DAY
Elizabeth Cotton
died 253 years ago today in 1758 at the age of 1 year 1 month and 2 days old in Middletown CT.  She is buried at the old Washington St. Cemetery in Middletown.  Elizabeth is the boys' 1st cousin 8 times removed.  Her parents are Bethsheba Sage and John Cotton, who is the son of Samuel Cotton and Experience Hall, the boys' 8th great-grandparents.

BROWN/MYER-FAMILY LINE

MAYNE/BROWN/MYER/HAWKINS-HULGAN/JENNINGS-HOSLER-KNOWLES
Georgia Ann Emily Mayne
is 160 years old today, born in 1851.  Emily is the kids' 1st cousin 6 times removed, the daughter of Elizabeth Caroline Yarbrough and Samuel Wilson Mayne who is the kids' 5th great-granduncle, the brother of 5th great-grandfather, William Homer Mayne.  A note of interest here is that since Georgia Ann Emily is such an unusual name I did a little research and found that there is another Georgia Ann Emily in the Family line.  Georgia Ann E. Crow who is the kids' 3rd great-grandaunt that lived from 1874 to 1899 in Georgia, probably near Mentone.  They are not related.  But Samuel Wilson Mayne and Elizabeth Yarbrough were married in the Hickory Flat Church in Cherokee County, GA.  Down the street for our house.
