WOODEN-FAMILY LINE

WOODEN/BRIDGFORTH-DAY
Jerry Joseph Wooden Sr.
is 84 years old today, born in 1927.  Jerry is Steve's Grandfather and Andrew and Bryan Bridgforth's Granduncle.  Another one of my heroes born in April.  This is my father, the man who gave me his name.  Dad was born in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, just as I was.  He married Elizabeth Louise (Betty) Steible November 23 1950 in Kansas City.  He sacrificed and worked extremely hard to raise 4 boys and provide them with just about everything we could have ever wanted.  Dad was a planner.  He taught us to prepare for potential problems in life.  I'm not sure that took with me.  I did get his nose and his emotions.  Dad loved his family more than anything.  On the day before he died, he told mom that he had done all he could and that he thought she could take care of herself from here on out. He didn't wake up the next day.  Call me crazy, but since Dad died in 2001 every year on Mom's birthday a balloon shows up in the yard.  No, REALLY!  Some times a random balloon just lands in the yard.  On her 80th birthday we were throwing her a party in the yard and just before sunset a huge hot air balloon flew right over the house.  Explain that!  I miss our talks Dad, and I miss being able to call you to ask about my problems.  Thanks for continuing to look after us.
