Heinrich Meyer is 201 years old today, born in 1810. This is controversial but, I believe Heinrich Meyer to be the kids' great-grandfather and here is why. Heinrich Meyer is buried in the Meyer plot in Winterville Cemetery in Winterville, GA along with his wife Sophie. They were born in Hanover, Germany in 1810 and 1818 respectfully. That makes them the perfect age to be the parents of John Hammond Meyer (1844-1921), his brother Dedrich Henry Meyer (1852-1889) and their sister Dora Meyer (1852-1936) who were also born in Hanover Germany. If that is true then Heinrich Meyer and Sophie are the kids' 4th great-grandparents.

That is just my 3rd great grandparents. By the time I get back to the Mayflower and the Hopkins family, my 11th great-grandfather, there are over 8,192 people (grandparents) whose blood is part of me. Half of those on my father's side and half on my mother's.
So if there are 7 billion people in the world, how many generations do we have to go back to all be related? Would that be Adam and Eve? Or wouldn't we have to count all the people who have lived? If that is the case, one scientist figures that there have been roughly 100 billion people who have ever lived. 35 generations would be 137 billion people. If man kind is 50,000 years old then a generation would have to be over 1428 years. If the current estimate of 30 years to a generation is to believed, then 30 x 35 = 1050. James Usher (1581-1656) believed that creation was the night before October 23, 4004 BCE. He figured a generation to be roughly 35 years, making 170 generations in history. But 170 generations would be many more people, wouldn't it?
