Meet the family for January 29, 2011


Anne Goode
died 390 years ago today in 1621 at age 52 in Bewdley, , Worcestershire, England.    Anne is the boys' 12th great-grandmother. She was only 52, having been born on Oct 27, 1568.  Anne is the wife of Francis Wakeman and the parents of John Wakeman.   John Wakeman (1601-1661) was born in Braintree, England and died in Hartford CT.  So John was the person who brought this branch of the family to the new world.  John married Elizabeth Hopkins on Jan 28th, 1628 yesterday. They begot Helena Wakeman in 1632 and Helena married John Talcott Jr.  They begot Hannah Talcott who married Nathan Gold and begot Samuel Gold in 1692Samuel Gold married Esther Bradley in 1716 and begot Abel Gold in 1727.  Abel was the one who married Ellen Burr and begot Talcott Gold in 1759.


Anne Stewart
is 206 years old today, born in 1805.  Anne is Tara and Calum's 4th great-grandaunt, the sister of John Thomas Stewart and 10 others.  Remember that John was killed in action during the War of Northern aggression.  Anne was the first born in the family of 12 born to Archibald Stewart and Rachel Akins.  Anne was born in York, South Carolina if my records are correct, as were the first 6 Stewart children.  Then around 1817 the family moved to Morgan county, GA where child 7, 8, 9 were born.  Then Samuel Davis Stewart was born in Spring Garden, AL in 1827, but I show his sister Margaret Susannah Stewart being born in GA.  That may be a mistake.  Rachel Akins, the mother died in 1858 in Spring Garden, AL and the father Archibald died in Calhoun, Alabama in 1862.

William Benjamin Savage
died 94 years ago today in 1917 at age 46 in Cherokee, Alabama. William is Tara and Calum's 2nd great-granduncle, the brother of Sallie E. Savage, Tara and Calum's 2nd great-grandmother and a member of the "family of 17".  Sallie of course married Moses Service Naugher and begot Horace Savage Naugher in 1897.  Horace married Maxie Ruth Smith and begot Tara and Calum's Grandfather, Moses S. Naugher.


John T. Stanford
died 185 years ago today in 1826 at age 44 in Waverly, Pike, Ohio,  and is the boys' 5th great-grandfather.  In 1802, John married Bathsheba Austin Emmott, the boys' 5th great-grandmother and they begot 4 children, the last of which was Isaac Austin Stanford in 1812.  Isaac married Catherine Kneff and they begot the one and only David Stanford, the boys' 3rd great-grandfather.


Mary Luvady Chambers
died 52 years ago today in 1959 at age 82 Mary is Ella Marie and Mason's 2nd great-grandaunt.  Mary is the daughter of Ella and Mason's 3rd great-grandparents, John Henry Chambers and Sarah Matilda West, both from Hall GA.  Mary's younger bother is Noah Benjamin Chambers who married Dellia Keever in 1908 and begot Ella and Mason's great-grandmother, Nellie Chambers.


Susan Epes Seay
died 68 years ago today in 1943 at age 87 in Blackstone, Virginia.  Susan is Bryan and Andrew's 2nd great-grandmother.  She was born in Amelia Virginia in 1855 and married Isham Trotter Bagley from the Pleasant Hill Plantation October 22, 1874.  They begot Edward Garland Bagley in 1884.  Edward married Ethel Clare Hethorn December 16, 1908 and begot Sudie Seay Bagley in 1912.  Sudie married Edward McPhail Bridgforth June 16, 1931 and they are the boys' grandparents.


Glenda Elaine Meyer/Thurmond
is 66 years old today, born in 1945.  Glenda is the kids' 3rd cousin twice removed.  Her father is Arthur Herman Meyer whose father is Dedrick Hammond Meyer, 1st cousin 4 times removed, whose father is John Hammond Meyer, the brother of 3rd great-grandfather, Dedrich Henry Meyer.  Happy Birthday Glenda!!!


John Wooden
died 174 years ago today in 1837 at the age of 41 in Oldham, Jefferson, Kentucky.  This John Wooden, and there are 3, is the boys' 5th great-granduncle, the brother of the Robert Wooden who married Jane Barnhill December 26, 1809 in Jefferson, Kentucky and are the boys' 5th great-grandparents.
