HULGAN FAMILY LINE

HULGAN/HOSLER-KNOWLES
John Miller Hulgan
died 71 years ago today at age 87 in Etowah, AL.  John was a cotton farmer in Etowah county Alabama.  He is Ella and Mason's 3rd great-grandfather.  John married Ruth J. Copeland November 15, 1871 in Dekalb, AL and they begot 6 Hulgan children with Thomas Franklin Hulgan being the 2nd born.  Thomas, Ella and Mason's 2nd great-grandfather married Della D. Berryhill and they begot 6 children with Cecil Robert Hulgan born in 1905 being the second.

MYER-FAMILY LINE

BROWN/EDGE/MYER/HULGAN-HAWKINS/HOSLER-KNOWLES-JENNINGS
William Olen Brown
died 87 years ago today at age 58 in Centre, Cherokee, Alabama.  This Brown is not related to the other Browns in the line.  William is the kids' 1st cousin 4 times removed.  His other is Ora Edge, the kids' 3rd great-grandaunt, the sister of Joseph Lewis Edge, the girls' 3rd great-grandfather.  Joseph married Alice Cora Starling and begot 6 more Edge children with Cora Augusta Edge being the 2nd born.  I was told a story by Ella Ween that Cora would never let anyone know what her middle intial A. stood for.  Now of course we know that the A. is for Augusta which was her mother's mother's (her maternal grandmother's) first name.  She was Augusta A. Powers.  Now I'm going to wonder what her A. stands for.
