9.  George W. BARNETT

Civil War Service for George W. BARNETT:  6th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Co. K "Gilmer Blues" (Oglethorpe Co. GA), Army of Tennessee, CSA:  "Barnett, George W.- private May 28, 1861. Died November 11, 1861."

"The (6th Georgia Infantry) regiment garrisoned Yorktown, Virginia from June 1861 until the spring of 1862, experiencing its first combat in April in defense of that location."

My comment:  If George W. Barnett died on 11 Nov 1861, he likely died in Yorktown VA, perhaps of disease.

George is the kids' 1/2 5th great-granduncle,
the brother of Abel M. Barnett.  Abel was born to David Barnett and Sarah Phillips and George was born to David Barnett and his second wife Louvicy Hayes.  Together there were 17 children in the family.  Abel later married Rachel Meadows and they are the kids' 5th great-grandparents.
