Meet the family for August 31st

Angeline Kenley
died 101 year ago today in 1909 at age 70 in Lexington, Nebraska.  Angeline is the boys' 3rd great grandaunt, the sister of Nancy Ann Kenley, the second wife of David Stanford and the parents of Margaret Jennie Stanford, the boys' 2nd great-grandmother.

COTTON/WOODEN-FAMILY LINE

James Freeland Powers
died 92 years ago today in 1918 at the age of 61.  James is the boys' 2nd cousin 4 times removed.  His mother is Lydia Ann Banks, the boys' 1st cousin 5 times removed.  Lydia's father is David Bradley Banks, the boys' 4th great-granduncle and the 1/2 brother of Samuel Cheney Cotton, via their mother Sally Gold.

WOODEN/BRIDGFORTH-DAY
Walter William Wooden, Sr
. died 49 years ago today in 1961 at the age of 73, in Kansas City, MO. Walter, or Dada, as we called him, is the boys' great-grandfather or the father of their parent.  Walter was born in Champaign, Illinois in 1887 and moved with the family to their farm in Appleton City Mo.  He didn't like farm life and left as soon as he could, moving to the big city of Kansas City.  His parents are Joseph R. Wooden and Margaret Jennie Stanford.  He had one brother, Leroy Oliver Wooden born in 1901, 14 years younger.  Leroy stayed on the family farm and raised a family of his own, dieing in May of 1996 in Cassville Mo, at age 94, not far from the family farm.  Before he left the farm, Walter met Marie Antoinette Cotton and they were married on May 8, 1910.  When they moved to Kansas City, Walter was mostly a self taught accountant and later an insurance salesman.  When he was 21 he had rheumatic fever which damaged his heart.  The doctors told his parents that he probably wouldn't live to see 30.  When he was in high school, Walter was a great track athlete, outstanding in the sprinting events. Walter and Marie begot three children, Charlotte Marjorie Wooden, the mother of Trip Day, Walter William Wooden, Jr. the father of Deborah Ann Wooden and Jerry Joseph Wooden, Sr. the father of Jerry Joseph Wooden, Jr., Steven Ray Wooden, Sr., James Price Wooden and Walter William Wooden.  Before he died, Walter and Marie traveled the country in their 1956 Buick, visiting the capital of every state in the country, except Alaska and Hawaii. 

STEIBLE/WOODEN-FAMILY LINE

LINIGAR/BAYS/SIMS/EVERHART/STEIBLE/WOODEN
Phoebe Linigar
died 175 years ago today in 1835 at the age of 43 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Phoebe is Steve's 5th great-grandaunt, the sister of Nancy Ann Linigar who married Thomas Bays and are Steve's 5th great-grandparents.  They begot Rebecca Bays in 1818 who married Dryden Sims in October of 1837 and later begot Thomas Nuton Sims in 1860.  Thomas married Matilda Ann Boudinier in March of 1878 in Appleton City, Mo and begot Margret Izora Sims in 1883.  Margret is Steve's 2nd great-grandmother, the mother of Lola Ray Everhart who married Al Steible and begot Betty Steible in 1928.

NAUGHER-FAMILY LINE

SAVAGE/NAUGHER
Frances M. Savage
is 136 years old today, born in 1874.  Frances is the 9th child of the 17 born to Frances Marion Savage and Frances Matilda Stewart.  He like many of the 17, died a young death at the age of 24 in Cherokee, AL in 1899.  Frances is Tara and Calum's 2nd great-granduncle.

14th anniversary is today, married in 1996 when she was 47.  Connie Sue is Tara and Calum's aunt, the sister of Tara and Calum's father Brent Stewart NaugherHappy anniversary Connie and Kenneth!
