Meet the family for July 4th

Henry Marshall Cotton
is 161 years old today, born in 1849. Henry is the boys' 3rd great-granduncle.  He and his brother Hubbard Cotton are 2 of the 3 children born to the boys' 4th great-grandparents, Samuel Cheney Cotton and Almira Walker. Hubbard married Mary Hazelitt and they begot Samuel Hazelitt Cotton in 1862.  Mary and Hubbard are buried in the family plot in Friendship New York, pictured yesterday.

Thomas Young Wesson
died 2 years ago today in 2008 at age 68 in Tyler, Smith, Texas. This is a recently discovered line of cousins.  Thomas is the Husband of the boys' 5th cousin once removed, Diane Rosentreter.  Diane's father is Earnest William Rosentreter, the boys' 4th cousin twice removed.  Earnest's mother is Lucy Powers Jaeger, the boys' 3rd cousin 3 times removed. Lucy's mother is Helen Altana Powers, the boys' 2nd cousin 4 times removed.  Helen's mother is Lydia Ann Banks, the boys' 1st cousin 5 times removed.  Lydia's father is the boys' 4th great-granduncle, David Bradley Banks, the 1/2 brother of the boys' 4th great-grandfather, Samuel Cheney Cotton.  David and Samuel's mother is Sally Gold the boys' 5th great-grandmother.

John Thomas Garrison
died 92 years ago today in 1918 at age 68 in Morgan, AL.  John is Steve's 3rd great-grandfather, born in Marshall county AL August 28, 1849, he married Martha Demaris Grantland in 1870.  They begot Samuel Omar Garrison in 1881 (3rd of 6).  Samuel married Lula May McCutcheon in 1905 and begot Sarah Eloise Garrison in 1909.  Sarah married John Wesley Reeves, Sr.

JOHNSON/WOODEN-FAMILY LINE

BRANT/McCAW/JOHNSON/WOODEN/BRIDGFORTH-DAY
Pauline Brant
is 96 years old today, born in 1914.  Pauline is the wife of the boys' 2nd cousin 3 times removed, James Russel McCaw who is the son of William F. McCaw/Johnson and Nora Catherine MooreWilliam is the boys' 1st cousin 4 times removed and Nora is their 2nd cousin 3 times removed.  Yes they are 1st cousin's once removed.

Side Bar of Note:
If you didn't already know, there were only two of the signers of the Declaration of Independence that later became Presidents of the United States.  John Adams and Thomas Jefferson.  Both of them died with-in hours of each other on July 4th 1826, the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration.
