Meet the family for June 9th

William Ward and Sarah Phelp's
352 anniversary is today.  William is the boys' 10th great-grandfather.  They were married in Windsor, Hartford, CT June 9, 1658.  William was 25 and Sarah 26.  Unfortuately Sarah died on July 9, 1659 just a few days after giving birth to William Ward jr on June 21, 1659. William Jr. only lived to be 1 day shy of 2 years old, dieing on June 20, 1661.  Fortuately for us, William Ward, Sr. remarried to Phoebe Fenner on March 28, 1660, and she bore 9 children for him.  The second child was Phoebe Ward, born in 1663 who later married Samuel Hall and begot Experience Hall in 1684, the boys' 8th great-grandmother.  To explain the heading - not only is Phoebe Ward (the second born) the boys' 9th great-grandmother, but her brother Thomas Ward, Sr. (the first born) is their 9th great-grandfather, but not in a bad way.  Thomas married Anna Tappin in 1712.  But Wait! They begot Thomas Ward, Jr. in 1684.  Oh no.  Either there was another wife or the dates are wrong.  Thomas Jr. then married Rebecka Birnham in 1707, so their must have been another mother.  Jr. and Rebecka begot Rebeckah Ward in 1723 who married William Cotton in 1742.  They begot Thomas Cotton in 1764.  So I'm very confused now, because I show William Cotton and Rebeckah Ward to be not only the boys' 7th great-grandparents, but also their 2 cousin 9 times removed.  But my problem is that their son Thomas Cotton is only their 6th great-grandfather.

Elizabeth Parr
died 130 years ago today in 1880 at age 63 in Cherokee, Alabama. Elizabeth is the wife of the Tara's 3rd great-granduncle, Daniel Naugher, the brother of Robert Marion Naugher.  They were born to a family of 7 children from Joseph Naugher and Jane Ingram, Tara's 4th great-grandparents.

Tobias Wilhoit
died 146 years ago today in 1864 at age 83 in Owen, Kentucky.  Tobias is the boys' 5th great-grandfather.  He married Nancy Margaret Ellison in Woodford, Kentucky in 1801.  They begot Malinda Mahala Wilhoit or Wilhoite who married Robert Miller Wooden February 18th 1819 in Jefferson, Kentucky.  They begot 10 Wooden children, Ibby, Jeremiah, Paschal, George Washington, John, Susan, James R., Jefferson, Joshua Miller, and Andrew Jackson Wooden, the boys' 3rd great-grandfather.  Andrew married Amanda Johnson and begot Joseph R. Wooden in 1860 who married Margaret Jennie Stanford and begot Walter William Wooden and Leroy Oliver Wooden.
