TALCOTT/GOLD/COTTON/WOODEN/BRIDGFORTH-DAY
Hannah Talcott

Hannah is the boys' 9th great-grandmother.  She married Nathan Gold in Fairfield, Connecticut in 1686.  They begot 7 children and in 1692 had Samuel Gold, who married Esther Bradley in 1716 and begot Abel Gold in 1727.  Abel married Ellen Burr in 1754 in Fairfield and begot Talcott Gold in 1759.

GOLD/COTTON/WOODEN/BRIDGFORTH-DAY
Sally Gold
is 231 years old today, born in 1779. This isn't the Sally Gold that was the daughter of Talcott Gold.  This Sally is the boys' 1/2- 6th great-grandaunt and was born to Abel Gold and his second wife Amelia Silliman.  That makes this Sally Gold, Talcott Gold's 1/2 sister.  Talcott must have liked her enough to name his first daughter after her when she was born in 1782, just 3 years later.

GOLD/COTTON/WOODEN/BRIDGFORTH-DAY
Thomas Gold
is 198 years old today, born in 1812.  Thomas is the boys' 1st cousin 7 times removed, born to Elizabeth and the boys' 6th great-granduncle, Abel Gold Jr., Talcott Gold's brother.

WARD/HALL/COTTON/WOODEN/BRIDGFORTH-DAY
William Ward
died 320 years ago today in 1690 at age 57.  William is the boys' 10th great-grandfather. He was born August 16, 1632 in Northly, Oxfordshire, England. and died in Middletown, Connecticut.  He came to America between 1632 and 1658 when he married his first wife, Sarah Phelps in Windsor, Hartford, Connecticut.  She was 26 and he was 25.  Sarah died a year later about two weeks after giving birth to their only child William Jr. who died himself one day shy of his 2nd birthday in 1661.  William Sr. now 27 married the 27 year old Phoebe Fenner in 1660 and begot 9 children of their own.  The second one, a girl named Phoebe Ward was born in 1663 and is the boys' 9th great-grandmother having married Samuel Hall in 1683.  They are the parents of Experience Hall.  But lets look back on the timing of the their marriage and the death of William Ward Jr.  Sarah Phelps died on July 9, 1659 after giving birth to William on June 21, 1659.  Then William Sr. married Phoebe Fenner on March 28 1660, roughly 8 months after the death of his first wife.  Then Phoebe gave birth to their first child, Thomas Ward on February 7, 1661, 11 months later.  But William Jr. died June 20, 1661.  Was she too busy with her new child to pay attention to the sickly William Jr?  We may never know.

WARD/HALL/COTTON/WOODEN/BRIDGFORTH-DAY
William Ward and Phoebe Fenner's anniversary number 350 is today,
married in 1660, in Middletown CT when they were both 27 years old.  Gee, that was nice of William to died on their anniversary, so she would remember him.  Actually, he died at age 57 in 1690 and she died a year later at age 58 in 1691.

BELLOWS/COTTON/WOODEN/BRIDGFORTH-DAY

Frito's mother is 10th great-grandaunt, Sarah Fenner, the sister of Pheobe Fenner, the boys' 10th great-grandmother.  Pheobe married William Ward in Middletown, CT on this day in 1660.  See the previous mention.

BOUDINOT/GOLD/COTTON/WOODEN/BRIDGFORTH-DAY
Elias Boudinot and Harriet Ruggles Gold's 184th
anniversary is today, married in 1826 when he was 24 and she was 20 years old.  Interesting story here.  "   From Peggy Bright - In researching our family history, I kept coming across the name Harriet Ruggles Gold when searching my great aunt, Harriet Anne Gold (Peck) Herdegen.  It turns out that Harriet Ruggles Gold was the daughter of Benjamin Gold.  He was the brother of Thomas and Thomas R. Gold.  Harriet is buried in New Echota, Georgia (now Calhoun).  She married Elias Boudinot (aka Buck Waite), a Cherokee, who signed the Treaty of New Echota. If you don't know the story about them, I will tell you about their love story that began in Cornwall, CT."      This story was featured on Public TV and produced by Ken Burns.
