Meet the family for February 22nd

HULGAN-FAMILY LINE

DOBBS/BURT/HULGAN/HOSLER
Charlie Hubert Dobbs and Minnie Gertrude Burt's
anniversary number 92 is today.  They were married in 1918. Charlie was 15 and Minnie was 16 years old. Minnie is Ella's 1st cousin 3 times removed and the daughter of John Henry Burt and Lillie Jane Hulgan. (see pictures)  John Henry is Ella's 1st cousin 5 times removed and Lillie Jane is Ella's 2nd great- grandaunt because they are also cousins.

NAUGHER-FAMILY LINE

STEWART/SAVAGE/NAUGHER
Frances Matilda Stewart
is 165 years old today, born in 1845. Frances is Tara's 3rd great-grandmother.  She married Frances Marion Savage and got along really well.  So well in fact that they had 17 children.  Frances Matilda live to be only 43 (I don't blame her) dieing on March 30, 1888 in Cherokee, AL.  Her husband Frances Marion Savage lived to be 65 and died March 28, 1902 in Ladiga, Calhoun, Alabama.  We've talked about this family before but it is interesting to see that they had many tragic young deaths.  Here are the ages of the children when they died.  Sallie E. 39 years, Susannah E. 3 months, Amanda E. less than 3 months, James Thomas 67 years, John R. 5 years, Samuel Davis 58 years, William Benjamin 46 years, Lott Walker Savage 85 years, Frances M. 24 years, Joseph D. 11 1/2 months, Josephine V. 7 years, Charles Alfred 75 years, Paul Heflin Savage 64 years, Henry C. 4 months, Raleigh Haynes Savage 69 years, Infant Savage still born 0 years, Rufus Webster Savage 56 years.  Very sad to think that of the 17 children born, only 5 lived to see 60 and only 3 out lived their father and sadder yet, 7 children didn't live to be 10 years old.

RAINS/NAUGHER
Howard Milton Naugher and Alta Ellen Rains'
63rd anniversary is today, married in 1947 when he was 21 years old in Gadsden, Alabama.  Howard is Tara's Granduncle, the brother of Moses S. Naugher, Tara's Grandfather. Howard and Alta begot 4 children, Mary Ellen Naugher, Jenny Lynn Naugher, Marie Jean Naugher and Jeffrey Milton Naugher.  All are Tara's 1st cousins once removed.

BROWN/MYER-FAMILY LINE

BROWN/MYER/HAWKINS-HULGAN/JENNINGS-HOSLER
Oscar Routh Brown
died 79 years ago today in 1931 at age 68 in Mentone, Dekalb, Alabama. Oscar is the girls' 3rd great-grandfather.  He was born to Thomas Truly Brown and Louise J. C. Rogers on September 16, 1862 in Georgia.  Oscar married Ella Mariah Crow and begot 5 children, all boys, with the last one being Oscar Thomas Brown, born in 1912.  Oscar T. married Donie Mae Mayne in 1936 and they begot Ella Ween Brown in 1937, Doyle Brown in 1939 and Jerrel Thomas Brown in 1941.

JOHNSON/WOODEN-FAMILY LINE

McCAW/MOORE/JONES/JOHNSON/WOODEN/BRIDGFORTH-DAY- I THINK
William F McCaw Johnson
is 138 years old today, born in 1872.  This is our screwy family, cousins marrying cousins then changing their name thing.  William F McCaw Johnson is the boys' 1st cousin 4 times removed.  His wife and first cousin Nora Catherine Moore is the boys' 2nd cousin 3 times removed.  William was born William F. Johnson supposedly to  Abraham Johnson and Nancy Amerette Reno, unless of course he was adopted and/or raised by wolves, I mean raised by Abraham and Nancy. To support the idea of adoption, William wasn't on the Johnson's 1880 census, and of course I don't have the 1890 census to look at either.  Then some time later, William changed his last name to McCaw, the name he gave his children.  To screw this up even more, several records show him to have lived to be 111 years old.  Not impossible, but very improbable.  William supposedly was born February 22, 1872 in Evansville, IN.  The first census I pick him up on is the 1900 census where he lived in Wayne IN.  It does show his birth year as 1872.

STEIBLE/WOODEN-FAMILY LINE

COTTON/SIMS/EVERHART/STEIBLE/WOODEN
Elizabeth Nancy Cotton
died 166 years ago today in 1844 at age 65 in Jackson River, Alleghany, VA. Liz is Steve's 5th great-grandmother.  She married James Sims in Jackson River Virginia on October 25, 1796.  They begot 6 children after James' first wife Phebe Nalle drown.  James brought 7 children into his marriage with Elizabeth for a total of 13.  Our line goes through Dryden Sims, the 12th born, probably aground 1819. Dryden Sims married Rebecca Bays and begot Thomas Nuton Sims in 1860.  Thomas married Matilda Ann Boudinier in Appleton City, MO March 15, 1878 and begot Steve's 2nd great-grandmother, Margret Izora Sims in 1883.  Margret married Elmer Elsworth Everhart in 1902 and the begot Lola Ray Everhart in 1906.
