Meet the family for January 6th

Henry Kenley
is 199 years old today, born in 1811 Henry Kenley, is the boys' 4th great-granduncle.  Henry was born on this day in 1811 in Kentucky and died in Clay county, IL on Sept 25 1884 at the age of 73.  Henry's parents and the boys' 5th great-grandparents are John Kenley and his first wife Mary Warmsley.  Yes, these are the same people we talked about yesterday.  Weird isn't it.  James S. Kenley was also their son and the boys' 4th great-grandfather, who married Mary Jane Gill, the parents of Amanda Jane Kenley and Nancy Ann Kenley, David Stanford's wives.  Remember?

Margret Izora Sims
died 42 years ago today in 1968 at age 84 on a Saturday morning at 10:22 am. I was 15 and remember it well.  She was a great person.  So sweet to me.  She was easy to love.  My grandmother Lola  always said that she blamed the "old man", her dad, for causing her mother's cancer.  She said Margret (Gram) was riding in a car with Gramp and he got into a accident.  She hit her chest on the dash board and Lola always thought that's what caused her cancer years later.  I visited her in the hospital when I was just 11 or 12.  At first they made me look into the window, but finally they let me in to see her.  I remember seeing her all frail and sick, with her white, white hair and soft skin.  I told her that I wish I could switch places with her.  She hugged me and cried, and told me that she would never let that happen.  She was 84 when she died. Gram is Steve's 2nd great-grandmother.

Samuel Lee Everhart
is 123 years old today, born in 1887.  Sam is the brother of Elmer Elsworth Everhart (Gramp).  He is Steve's 2nd great-granduncle.  I recently got a email from an man in Texas that is trying to find the living relatives of Samuel L. Everhart because Sam bought some oil land in Texas in the 1920's.  I'm still trying to find out what's up with that.  I'll keep you posted.

Walter William Wooden, Jr.
would be 86 years old today.  Uncle Bud was born today in 1924. He is the brother of Jerry Wooden Sr and Charlotte Wooden.  He is the husband of Ruth E. Schuchert and the father of Deborah Ann Wooden.  He is Bryan and Andrew's grandfather and Steve's granduncle.  He was a story teller and a man about town.  He was a salesman extraordinaire and a good friend and brother.  He will always be missed.
