WOODEN/COTTON- FAMILY LINE
Ebenezer Burr died 232 years ago today in 1777 at age 44 in Fairfield, CT. Ebenezer is the boys' 7th great-granduncle. He married Amelia Silliman who remarried after his death to Abel Gold. Amelia was Abel's second wife so they are both Great-grandparents and cousins and maybe even aunts and uncles. Gee, between Abel Gold and his 2 marriages and Amelia Silliman and her 2 marriages, they had 16 children. Here is what I think happened:
First Ellen Burr (born 1736) married Abel Gold (born 1727) December 19, 1754 and begot 11 children, John Gold, Abel Gold, Talcott Gold, Ellen Gold, Samuel Gold, Isaac Gold, Esther Gold, Nathan Gold, Grissel Gold, Seth Burr Gold and Hannah Gold. Ebenezer Burr (born 1732) married Amelia Silliman (born 1736) on February 26, 1759. They had 4 children, Samuel Burr, Mabel Burr, Amelia Burr and William Burr. Then Ebenezer died in 1777 and Amelia Silliman married Abel Gold on January 18, 1778. They already had 11 children from the Ellen Burr/Abel Gold marriage and 4 more from the Amelia Silliman/Ebenezer Burr marriage, then they begot Sally Gold which makes 16 total, wow. And of course one of them was born on this day. Hannah
Hannah Gold is 232 years old, born in 1777. Hannah Gold is the 11th child in that mess above. She is the boys' 6th great-grandaunt. Our line goes through her full brother Talcott Gold who married Anna Barlow in 1782 and begot Sally Gold in 1782. This Sally must have been named after Talcott's 1/2 sister above.
Samuel Hazelitt Cotton is 147 years old today, born in 1862 in Friendship New York. He later died in Appleton City, MO December 13, 1915 at age 53. Fast forward 3 or 4 generations - Talcott Gold's daughter Sally marries Bradley Banks, but he drowns in the Sausquehanna river in 1808 leaving her with two sons, David Bradley Banks and Talcott Banks. Sally marries Ira Cotton 3 years later on May 6, 1811 and they have Sally Ann Cotton and the boys' 4th great-grandfather Samuel Cheney Cotton. Samuel marries Almira Walker in 1834 (our link to the Mayflower) and they begot the boys' 3rd great-grandfather, Hubbard Cotton in 1838. Hubbard married Mary Hazelitt in 1861 and begets the afore mentioned Samuel Hazelitt Cotton in 1882. Samuel Hazelitt married Lotti (Charlotte) B. Ray December 13, 1887 in Appleton City, MO and begot Marie Antoinette Cotton, my grandmother and the boys' great-grandmother in 1891.
Lonnie Lone Stanford died at age 1 in 1912, 97 years ago today. Before Walter William Wooden married Marie Antoinette Cotton the tree branched toward the Stanford line. Walter's father Joseph (or James) R. Wooden married Margaret Jennie Stanford in 1884. Jennie (as she was known) was the daughter of David Stanford and his second of three wifes, Nancy Ann Kenley. David Stanford was the 2nd of 12 children born to Isaac Austin Stanford and Catherine Kneff. David's younger brother, Jacob K. Stanford, the boys' 3rd great-granduncle married Ketorah Bayler in 1862 and begot their last of 4 children, Asia Minor Stanford in 1872 (interesting name), the boys' 1st cousin 4 times removed. Asia married Martha Telitha Hazelwood in 1890 and begot 11 children, the 9th being Lonnie Lone Stanford, the boys' 2nd cousin 3 times removed.
Hettie Cora McCutcheon died 57 years ago today in 1952 in Morgan county, Alabama. She was 77 years old. Hettie is Steve's 2nd great-grandaunt. She is the sister of Lula May McCutcheon, Steve's 2nd great-grandmother. Lula married Samuel Omar Garrison on December 27, 1905 and begot 3 children, the middle child is Sarah Eloise Garrison, born in 1909 also in Morgan county, Alabama. Sarah married John Wesley Reeves, Sr. in 1932 and begot 4 children, John Jr is the oldest. John Wesley Reeves, Jr. married Marry Evelyn Pharris and are Steve's Grandparents. They begot 5 children with Mittie Marie Reeves being the oldest.
